The Samaritans were founded in 1953 to provide a non-judgemental listening service and emotional support to anyone experiencing stress. While the Samaritans target women and men aged between 18 and 25 as the group found to be most at risk of suicide, their 24-hour helpline service is open to individuals in all age groups who are distressed or who are at risk of ending their lives.

Beneficiary ProjectContacts to the Limerick service can be made by telephone, email, letter or by visiting one of their centres. Funding will enable: a high profile campaign to publicise and promote the work of the Samaritans in the Limerick region a volunteer recruitment campaign to enlist new staff for its 24-hour helpline service
