Dustin Johnson Commits to Play in JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am 2010

The 25-year-old American, who turned professional after assisting the United States to victory over Great Britain and Ireland in the Walker Cup at Royal County Down in 2008, has made a tremendous impact on the PGA Tour and currently heads the FedEx Cup standings. He is second on the US Tour's money list, with season's earnings to date of $1,682,450.
Johnson's impressive defence of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am last week gave him his third career victory as a professional and has put him in a strong position to make a Ryder Cup debut for the USA in the match with Europe at Celtic Manor in Wales next October.
Commenting on the announcement, JP McManus said: "We are delighted that Dustin, who is one of the new emerging forces in professional golf worldwide, has agreed to give up his time to play in the Pro-Am. He will be a very welcome addition to the field."
Players previously confirmed for the event on the Robert Trent Jones-designed course are European number one Lee Westwood, triple-major champion Pádraig Harrington, former US Open champion Jim Furyk, Rory McIlroy, Ian Poulter and Paul Casey, who are all currently in the Top-10 in the official world golf rankings.

The aim of the JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am is to support mid-western charities and groups in their work with the underprivileged and disadvantaged. All proceeds are donated in their entirety towards the development of these services and over €55 million has been raised since its inception in 1990. Once again, the beneficiary charities are organising pre-qualifying tournaments throughout the region in a bid to enter teams in the Pro-Am.
The golf event, which has a prize fund of €1 million is comprised of 54 teams of four players competing over two days (1 professional and 3 amateurs per team). A record number of overseas and Irish people are expected to visit Limerick to enjoy the golf and atmosphere.
Spectators can choose from one of eight different coloured "two-day entrance caps" representing Ireland, Munster Rugby and each of the Munster counties. At a cost of €50 each they can be purchased from the website on www.jpmcmanusproam.com or at selected retail outlets.
