8 Winning Charity Teams to go Forward to Play in the JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am 2010 Grand Qualifiers

The highest scoring teams competing in the Grand Qualifiers golf tournament for a place in the JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am were announced yesterday. The eight lucky teams will go forward to play alongside one of the world’s leading golfers at the event on 5th and 6th July at Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort.

Ninety-one teams representing local charities from all over Ireland took part in the two day qualifiers. Teams of three played over the two days, with shotgun starts each day at 8.30am and 2.30pm.

The eight teams will be drawn in early July to play with one of the Professional golfers taking part in July’s Pro Am. The teams will comprise of one professional and three amateurs per team.

The aim of the JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am is to support mid-western charities and groups in their work with the underprivileged and disadvantaged. All proceeds are donated in their entirety towards the development of these services.

A record number of overseas and Irish visitors are expected to come to Limerick to enjoy the golf and atmosphere. Spectators can choose from one of eight different coloured “two-day entrance caps” representing Ireland, Munster Rugby and each of the Munster counties. A total of 24,000 caps have been sold to date with 6,000 remaining. Spectators are therefore urged to purchase their entrance cap to avoid disappointment. At a cost of €50 for two days entry, they can be purchased from the website on or at selected retail outlets.
