Richard Finch

Who can forget the image of Finch falling into the River Maigue as he played his final approach shot to the 18th green en route to winning the 2008 Irish Open? So, this marks a return to a happy hunting ground for the popular Englishman, whose win in the Irish Open marked the biggest success of his career and enabled him to add that prestige title to the New Zealand Open he also claimed that year in finishing a career-high 20th on the European Tour Order of Merit. Finch, who took up golf by using cut-down clubs on his local public course in Hull, was a sports all-rounder in his teens playing soccer, cricket, tennis and badminton before making golf his career . . . . Finch has shown good form in 2010, including runner-up finishes in the Avantha Masters and the Andalucian Open.
