Paul Casey

Paul Casey got a painful reality check in the middle of the 2009 season, when an intercostal muscle injury - suffered in mid-July in the British Open at Turnberry - effectively cut short his season. At the time, the Englishman was leading the Race to Dubai standings on the PGA European Tour after wins in Abu Dhabi and the BMW PGA Championship while he had also made a breakthrough win on the PGA Tour in America when claiming the Shell Houston Open. Despite missing a large chunk of the second part of the season, Casey still finished fifth in the inaugural Race to Dubai standings. The Arizona-based golfer - who is coached by Peter Kostis - won the Henry Cotton trophy as 'rookie of the year' in his first year as a professional on tour in 2001 and has proven himself to be a fine team player, starring on winning Ryder Cup teams in 2004 and 2006 and also capturing the World Cup in 2004 in partnership with Luke Donald.
