Steve Marino

Marino was first introduced to golf as a three-year-old, when handed a cut-down 3-iron which he used in his back garden. However, it was as a teenager, when the family moved to the outskirts of Washington DC, that Marino’s game really evolved. He played his golf at the Army Navy Country Club in Fairfax and won the Virginia amateur championship and starred for the University of Virginia before pursuing a pro career. Although he originally played on the Nationwide Tour, Marino earned his full US Tour card at the 2006 Q-School and has since emerged as one of the most consistent players on tour. He notched up 13 top-25 finishes on tour last season, in finishing a career high 13th on the FedEx Cup standings and has continued in that vein of form in 2010 with top-5 finishes in the LA Open and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am earlier this season. He also had a career-high Tied-14th finish in the US Masters in April . . . . is followed on tour by a group of fans who call themselves, ‘Marino’s Mob.’
