Tiger Woods

If his talent was first show-cased in a novelty television appearance as a two-year-old, when Tiger Woods putted against comedian and actor Bob Hope on "The Mike Douglas Show," it's his performances since turning professional in 1996 that has revolutionised the sport. Only the legendary Jack Nicklaus - with 18 - has more Major championships than Woods . . . . and, with time on his side, the expectation is that Woods will become the greatest golfer of all time. Woods captured his 14th Major with victory in a play-off over Rocco Mediate in the 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines but, within days, was hospitalised to undergo extensive knee surgery that would keep him out of the sport for almost ten months. On his return to competition in 2009, Woods dominated the PGA Tour - recording six wins (in the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, the Memorial tournament, the AT&T National, the Buick Open, the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational and the BMW Championship) whilst also winning the Australian Masters - and strengthened his position as Number One on the official world rankings. Tiger traditionally wears a red shirt in the final round of a tournament, as it is considered his power colour. He has been named US PGA Tour 'Player of the Year' on ten occasions (1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009).
