Hugh Grant and Kyle Mac Lachlan have confirmed to play in the JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am on the 5th and 6th July 2010. The renowned film stars from both sides of the Atlantic will join many of the world's top golfers at Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort next year.
Hugh Grant is possibly one of Britain's most well known actors starring in major blockbusters such as, 'Notting Hill', 'About a Boy', 'Bridget Jones' Diary' and 'Love Actually.' His breakthrough leading role came in 1994 with the part of Charles in 'Four Weddings and a Funeral', for which he won a Golden Globe award for "Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy". Since then he has also won a BAFTA and an Honorary César. His most recent movie co-starring with Sarah Jessica Parker 'Did You Hear About The Morgans' will be released in Ireland on the first of January 2010.
American actor, Kyle Mac Lachlan's first role was as Paul Atreides in the film 'Dune' in 1984. He has had many roles in other cult films since then such as 'Blue Velvet' and 'Showgirls.' However, he is most likely best known for his recurring roles in the hit television series' 'Sex and the City' as Trey MacDougal and in 'Desperate Housewives' as Orson Hodge. Kyle Mac Lachlan has also appeared in many plays such as 'On an Average Day' with Woody Harrelson; on Broadway in 'The Caretaker' as well as in 'Romeo and Juliet', and the Shakespearean history, 'Henry V.'
The aim of the JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am is to support mid-western charities and groups in their work with the underprivileged and disadvantaged. All proceeds are donated in their entirety towards the development of these services and over €55 million has been raised since its inception in 1990. The fund raiser is held every five years and once again, the beneficiary charities are organising pre-qualifying tournaments throughout the country in a bid to enter teams in the Pro-Am next July.
A record number of overseas and Irish people are expected to visit Limerick to enjoy the golf and the atmosphere. This time, spectators can choose from one of eight different coloured "two day entrance caps" representing Ireland, Munster Rugby, and each of the Munster counties. At a cost of €50, the cap can be purchased on the website on www.jpmcmanusproam.com or at selected retail outlets (they are currently being marketed as "an ideal Christmas gift" in aid of charity).
