The Golf Course at Adare Manor is currently implementing a sustainability management system and is aiming to be the first course in the world to achieve the international sustainability standard ISO 20121.
WHAT IS ISO 20121?
ISO 20121 is an international standard for sustainable event management, created by the International Organisation for Standardisation. It shows that an event or an organisation can become more socially responsible and reduce its environmental footprint, all while continuing to be financially successful. More information can be found here.
WHAT WILL WE DO?
A Sustainability improvement programme is being implemented which will deliver continuous improvement year on year in areas including:
• Habitat & Biodiversity improvement
• Waste reduction
• Improving recycling/reuse
• Reduction in carbon and plastics footprint
• Community involvement/education
When we look back on the Pro-Am, we not only want to say we hosted a world-class gathering of professional and celebrity golfers, raising vital funds for charitable organisations in the Mid-West. We also want to say we did it with our environmental impact front and centre of our thinking. ISO 20121 will help us do that.
